Sutton’s MP gets the Job done at Jobs & Careers Fair in Town Hall
On Friday 8 July, Andrew Mitchell welcomed over 400 job seekers and 30 exhibitors to the Town Hall alongside the Mayor, Cllr Charlotte Hodivala.
Andrew Mitchell MP invited multinational, national and local businesses to exhibit side by side and snap up Suttonian job seekers or help those looking to improve their prospects.
The Jobs Fair is the second of its kind to be organised by our MP and follows the success of the Fair he hosted in 2014.
A variety of employers from wide ranging industry sectors discussed their vacancies and traineeships with visitors. Whilst international companies such as Uber and UPS offered employment opportunities, Birmingham Metropolitan College and the Prince’s Trust were on hand to offer expert advice on apprenticeships and CV skills.
A record number of local businesses were also keen to tap into the Sutton Coldfield talent, including the Four Oaks Branch of Barclays Bank, Dignity PLC and the CRS Group- businesses based in the Royal Town and offering local opportunities. Nationally, the British Army, Bondcare and HomeBased Care offered wide ranging opportunities as well as tailored career advice.
Mr Mitchell had organised for a number of both employers and employment support agencies to exhibit and the Fair was open to people of any age looking for new opportunities or just looking to improve their skills and employment prospects.
As he visited the different exhibitors and thanked them for their involvement, Andrew Mitchell said, “It is so encouraging to see so many young people and job seekers here today making the most of the opportunities on offer by the best local and national businesses. The local economy in our Royal Town has grown rapidly and I am delighted to see so many local businesses offering apprenticeship and traineeships. I know many of my constituents were able to take advantage of the recruitment opportunities on offer and would like to thank those involved for their help and support in organising such a fruitful event.”
