Andrew Mitchell supports Christmas Care in the Community
Andrew Mitchell MP showed his support for the Patients Participation Group by joining them last Friday afternoon for their monthly tea party, held at the Ley Hill Surgery.
On the last Friday of every month, drivers collect lonely patients over 75 and take them to the Ley Hill practice for tea and cakes. All drivers and helpers are volunteers, with the expenses covered by friends and Practice staff, who take time out of their busy days to chat to their guests. The tea parties are also supported by Waitrose and Lloyds Bank.
After the tea Andrew Mitchell said “I am pleased that work like this is being done in the community to tackle loneliness, especially among older people. Many have given so much to the community over the years, and it is right and proper that we do all we can to support them in their old age, especially at this time of year”.
