Andrew Mitchell MP visits Birch Coppice to see what might be in store for the commercial development at Peddimore

At the invitation of IM Properties, the developer at the Peddimore Site, Andrew Mitchell MP has visited Birch Coppice Business Park in Tamworth.

Birch Coppice was transformed from a disused colliery by IM Properties and developed to high standards of building design, park infrastructure, landscaping, amenities and management.

The focus of the tour was for Andrew to inspect the landscaping and design of the site. Part of the itinerary included a visit to Ocado, the leading FTSE 100 technology business and longstanding occupier at Birch Coppice.

During the meeting, Andrew reiterated that IM Properties must consult with local Sutton businesses and his constituents in a meaningful and user-friendly way where the views of local people will truly shape and refine the proposals. He also made clear that Peddimore must be able to facilitate top brands which provide strong employment opportunities for local residents.

Following the meeting: Andrew Mitchell said:
“Birch Coppice sets a good precedent on what the future of Peddimore might hold, which must be high-quality - attracting international manufacturing and logistics businesses which will provide career opportunities for my constituents.

“I would like to reassure my constituents that we will be working in the best interests of the local community to ensure that Sutton Coldfield has significant input and control of these developments. I am also determined that local Councillors including from our Royal Town Council, along with Cllr David Barrie who leads for us on these issues on Birmingham City Council, will play a full part as the proposals develop.”
