Andrew Mitchell MP joins Sutton Arts Trail and takes part in Royal Sutton’s weekend of artistic discovery

This year’s Sutton Arts Trail is the second time the Royal Town has mounted this major event sponsored by the Town Council, who awarded the Boldmere Futures Partnership £4830, and other local commercial ventures including: Gracechurch Centre, Banners Gates Community Association, Trinity Photograph Group, Sutton Coldfield Society of Artists, Essence Design with parking provided by the Harvester.

The Arts trail showcases the ability of 37 exceptional local artists covering a wide variety of mediums and genres. With artists who work in a large range of media and styles - everything from jewellery to sculpting was put on display. The event produced another fine example of Sutton’s talent and community spirit incorporating the event for the whole family with special activities for children.

Given the overwhelming popularity of the first Sutton Art Trail last year the demand for an annual return became inevitable with both artists and the public alike seeing the benefits of such an event. With 10 venues and free entrance there was opportunity for everyone to visit one of the sites and enjoy the sites on display.

Sutton’s Member of Parliament, Andrew Mitchell, visited an exhibition by Viv and Hazel Astling who presented their sculpture and natural world arts. Andrew described the event as “a great presentation of the creativity and artistic ability in our Royal Town. I congratulate all involved on showing this extraordinarily creative side of the Royal Town and the Town Council for sponsoring such an imaginative event.”
